After looking through the entire list, here are some other nominations of note…

First, here are the nominations for Outstanding Reality-Competition Program:

“Race” has won this award every year since the category was created…

The episode “Lost” submitted for the Outstanding Drama Series category, the season finale entitled “Through the Looking Glass,” received three nominations including Outstanding Directing and Outstanding Writing, but no Drama nod. I’ll have much more on that later...

“Friday Night Lights” did receive a nomination for Outstanding Casting for a Drama Series, although none of its leads were nominated. “Studio 60” also received a nomination in that category. It’s too bad that outstanding cast was never given anything outstanding to do…

“Studio 60” also received a nomination for Outstanding Directing for the pilot, directed by Thomas Schlamme. “Friday Night Lights” received a nod in this category as well for its pilot directed by Peter Berg, who directed the “FNL” film…

Spike Lee received a nomination for Outstanding Directing for Nonfiction Programming for “When the Levees Broke: A Requiem in Four Acts,” his Hurricane Katrina documentary for HBO…

“D--- In a Box,” the “Saturday Night Live” digital short featuring Andy Samberg and Justin Timberlake, received a nomination for Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics. Timberlake and Samberg are both listed as writers on the song. Joining them in that category are two songs from the “Scrubs” musical episode: “Everything Comes Down to Poo” and “Guy Love”…

Kudos to Matthew Perry for his nomination for Lead Actor in a Miniseries or a Movie. Perry’s portrayal of Ron Clark in “The Ron Clark Story” has earned him the trifecta of awards nominations—Emmy, Golden Globe, SAG—but no wins. And with Robert Duvall, Jim Broadbent, William H. Macy and Tom Selleck nominated with him, I don’t think he’ll get a win now…

Christian Clemenson was nominated once again for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series for his role on “Boston Legal.” As much as he dominated that show this season, however, I think this is the wrong category. He’s joined by two “Studio 60” guests: John Goodman and Eli Wallach…

“Desperate Housewives” didn’t get much love in the major categories, but it did get some much deserved love in the Guest Actress in a Comedy category with nominations for both Dixie Carter, who was phenomenal as Gloria Hodge, and Laurie Metcalf, who re-energized the show with her unhinged Carolyn Bigsby…

Jean Smart received a Guest Actress in a Drama nomination for her role as Martha Logan on “24.” I really hope she wins this since she was ripped off last year. Emmy voters only seeing this episode won’t know what a waste of a good character and actress this truly was…

“Hannah Montana” received a nod for Outstanding Children’s Program…

“Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List” was once again nominated for Outstanding Reality Program. I guess the voters didn’t hold her fake Emmy meltdown last year against her…
