Pick of the Week: Time to Rock the Vote and a Disney Bonus

Now that the Olympics are over, the country’s focus will change to the most dramatic thing we’ll see on TV this fall…

The Presidential Election.

My Pick of the Week is the Democratic National Convention.

If you’re a big political junkie, you can get all-day coverage on the cable news channels (I recommend MSNBC, led by Chuck Todd and Tom Brokaw). Otherwise, the networks (ABC, CBS and NBC) will provide coverage beginning at 10 p.m. each night.

The big nights of the week are Tuesday, when Sen. Hillary Clinton is scheduled to speak and Thursday, when Sen. Barack Obama will speak.

I have to say that this is a little bittersweet for me since I was looking forward to Tim Russert explaining it all to me. Fortunately, we will have Tim’s son, Luke, on the floor to help fill the void.

The Democratic National Convention runs Monday, August 25th-Thursday, August 28th…

Speaking of presidents, has there ever been a better TV president than Charles Logan from “24”?

Now I know that he was technically a bad guy, but he was played by Gregory Itzin. That automatically makes him awesome.

Now Itzin brings his awesomeness to “Hannah Montana,” as he plays the snobbish father of Miley’s new boyfriend.

It’s a role that Itzin is familiar with, as you may recall he was Phoebe’s rich father-in-law on “Friends.”

“Hannah Montana” airs Sunday, August 31st at 8 p.m. on Disney Channel…
